Women in Nairobi gathered on Sunday for the inaugural Suhba Series to discuss financial empowerment, faith, and modern womanhood.
The debut event, held at Kingfisher Nest Hotel, attracted a sold-out audience, creating a space where women openly addressed personal and professional challenges in today’s fast-changing world.
The afternoon centred on financial literacy and ethical wealth-building, with speakers emphasising the importance of pursuing career ambitions while remaining grounded in personal values and faith.

The panel featured chief guest Nimo Jirdeh, moderator Rukia Bulle, alongside speakers Dr Fatuma Hirsi and Shabana Osman.
Financial advisor Halima Tairara shared insights on Shariah-compliant approaches to finance, as discussions explored how women can make informed financial decisions and build sustainable wealth without compromising their family responsibilities or faith.
According to the event’s creator, Farida Idris, the platform was designed to go beyond surface-level networking.

“There is a shift happening. People are seeking spaces that feel more intentional, more honest, and more aligned with how they are actually living,” she said.
Idris added that the series aims to foster clarity, reflection, and genuine connection.

The event also incorporated a premium high tea experience, allowing attendees to network in a more intimate and relaxed setting, with support from major partners including Absa Bank, Gulf African Bank and Goodlife Pharmacy.

Organisers said future editions of the series will expand into topics such as leadership, wellness, and cultural identity, as demand continues to grow for curated, experience-led engagements in Nairobi.
The launch also coincided with Mother’s Day celebrations across the country, a timing many attendees said added deeper meaning to the event as they reflected on their evolving roles as nurturers, professionals, and community builders.
