Eric Omondi has rallied behind radio presenter and digital content creator Natalie Githinji after she was admitted to hospital following a severe endometriosis flare-up, launching an urgent fundraising appeal to help cover her medical expenses.
The comedian, activist and philanthropist visited Githinji in hospital before taking to social media to ask Kenyans to support her treatment.
He revealed that she requires further medical tests, including a scan, before undergoing surgery.
Describing Githinji as a resilient fighter, Omondi urged well-wishers to contribute directly towards her medical bills, saying every donation, regardless of the amount, would make a difference.
“This woman is the strongest soldier I know. She has been fighting this battle alone, but now she needs us,” Omondi wrote.
He said the financial support would help ensure Githinji receives the urgent treatment she needs and ease the burden of her hospital expenses.
Beyond the fundraiser, Omondi disclosed that the two have already begun discussions on creating a larger platform to amplify the voices of women living with endometriosis.
He said they hope to partner with corporate organisations to host an awareness event that will provide a safe space for women to share their experiences while advocating for better healthcare access, greater public understanding of the condition and lasting solutions.
Githinji has long been one of Kenya’s most vocal advocates for endometriosis awareness.
Through her Yellow Bold Girl initiative, she has educated the public about the condition, challenged the stigma surrounding menstrual and reproductive health, and encouraged women to seek early diagnosis and treatment.
She also champions the yellow ribbon, the international symbol of endometriosis awareness.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the womb, often causing severe pelvic pain, painful menstrual periods and, in some cases, fertility complications. While there is no cure, treatment focuses on managing symptoms through medication, surgery and ongoing medical care.
