Nairobi’s Kraftory Biergarten hosted the MyVitenge Afro Street Bazaar over the weekend, combining African fashion pop-ups with a Padel sport tournament.

The two-day event, held on August 15 and 16, marked the latest instalment of the platform’s monthly series following previous pop-ups at Yaya Centre and Nairobi Street Kitchen.

Organised by local fashion brand MyVitenge and hosted alongside corporate MC Liz Anyango, the event featured local vendors, food stalls, and live music.

The bazaar also included a runway showcase designed to give emerging fashion models and local designers exposure to attendees and online blogs.

MyVitenge operates as a hybrid platform for small and medium-sized enterprises, offering vendors physical retail spaces alongside an e-commerce platform.

Event organizers state the model is intended to help independent vendors transition from small-scale pop-up tables to established commercial brands.

“Apart from the creators’ opportunity to list on our e-commerce platform, the pop-up allows them to meet customers physically and trade their products,” the MyVitenge Director Fatih Rowa said.

“The young models also have a platform to shine, so we are supporting SMEs, individual talent, fusing with the sport, and really building a space where culture, business, and community thrive together.”

The growth of such hybrid events mirrors a broader trend in Nairobi’s retail landscape, where organisers are increasingly moving away from traditional mall environments to immersive, experience-led spaces.

For the local creative economy, these recurring pop-ups offer a crucial testing ground for market viability.

Emerging designers can gauge consumer demand for new collections in real-time without the barrier of long-term commercial leases, providing a bridge between informal home-based production and the formal retail sector.
