TotalEnergies Communications Manager Robert Kigweru engages Carol Mukaba of Forrester Nation team on the new TotalEnergies Card/HANDOUT
TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya has launched the New
Generation TotalEnergies Card, a mobility and payment solution.
The move is aimed at giving businesses, fleet managers and
individual motorists greater control, security and visibility over
mobility-related expenses.
The new card builds on more than 25 years of the
TotalEnergies card in the Kenyan market, which has evolved from a traditional
fuel payment tool into a broader mobility solution.
The card was first introduced as the Bon Voyage Fuel Card
and was Kenya’s first fuel card. It was also the first in the country to
incorporate chip technology to enhance transaction security.
TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Managing Director Thibault
Flichy said the new solution was developed in response to growing demand from
businesses for better oversight of fuel expenditure and operational costs.
“Businesses today need greater visibility and control over
their fuel expenditure than traditional payment methods can provide,” Flichy
said.
“Kenyan businesses are thus increasingly seeking digital
tools to improve financial cost oversight and operational efficiency to manage
rising operating costs and maintain profitability.”
He said the New Generation TotalEnergies Card combines
secure digital payments, real-time transaction monitoring and simplified tax
compliance on a single platform, enabling customers to make better decisions
and improve oversight of mobility expenses.
The solution introduces two digital payment options designed
to reduce reliance on physical cards. These include the Mobility Pay mobile
application and a virtual card that uses one-time passwords (OTP), including an
option designed for phones without internet connectivity.
Customers will also receive real-time SMS and email
notifications for transactions, as well as alerts on unusual or potentially
suspicious activity.
The new customer portal will provide businesses with
real-time visibility of their accounts and transaction activity, alongside
controls that allow users to set and manage spending limits.
TotalEnergies said the card also features a
pre-authorisation mode, allowing customers to have greater control over the
amount of fuel dispensed at service stations.
Security has been enhanced through the use of PIN codes,
RFID vehicle tags and one-time passwords for the mobile application and virtual
card.
The solution also offers simplified tax-compliant invoicing,
a feature expected to help businesses streamline financial reporting and
compliance.
The New Generation TotalEnergies Card can be used across the
company’s station network for fuel and other available products and services.
TotalEnergies said customers adopting the mobile application
and virtual card options would benefit from a more flexible digital payment
experience while reducing dependence on physical plastic cards.
The company said the launch marks another step in its
efforts to provide technology-driven mobility solutions as businesses and
motorists increasingly seek convenient and secure ways to manage transportation
expenses.
Customers can apply for the New Generation TotalEnergies
Card through the TotalEnergies Kenya website, while matatu and boda boda
operators can also apply at TotalEnergies service stations countrywide.
