Ciggie Johnson reveals DNA test excluded him as father of 12-year-old girl [Photo: Courtsey]
Kenyan club host and content creator Ciggie Johnson has said a DNA test has excluded him as the biological father of a 12-year-old girl he has raised since birth.
In a selfie-style video posted on Instagram on Saturday, October 3, Ciggie shared a phone call with the child’s mother, who told him that a laboratory report showed he was “excluded as the biological father”.
Ciggie then explained the result in simpler terms, saying: “Stop complicated English… DNA says I am not the father.”
He said he had paid the girl’s rent and school fees for 12 years and called on her mother to tell the child the truth so she would not grow up believing he was a “bad person”.
Fellow content creator Terence Creative responded on Instagram Stories, drawing from his own experience of being raised by foster parents.
“Sometimes it’s not DNA that determines if the kid is yours or not. The bond that you have created. The love and care that this kid has received is more than a DNA test,” Terence said.
He urged Ciggie not to abandon the girl, warning that doing so could have a lasting emotional impact on her.
The discussion has attracted mixed reactions online, with some users supporting Terence’s view that years of care and emotional attachment should also be considered.
Others disagreed, arguing that the child’s biological father should be identified and involved.
One widely shared comment read: “Another day to remind you that DNA is cheaper than school fees.”
The disclosure has renewed online discussion in Kenya about paternity testing, parental responsibility and the role of biology in fatherhood.
Ciggie said he wants the DNA report reviewed by his lawyer, while the discussion has also raised concerns about the possible impact of the situation on the 12-year-old girl.
