A public art installation featuring a performer dressed as US President Donald Trump inside a mock prison cell has drawn attention at Tajrish Square in northern Tehran, amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.
In a video seen by TNX Africa, the billboard-style display features a three-dimensional cage protruding from the structure, with an actor dressed as Trump walking around inside it and occasionally sitting down.
The installation carries the message, “Not seeing this scene is a crime.”
Nearby signs reportedly refer to an alleged US military airstrike on a wedding gathering in Sirkik, southern Iran, in early September. Iranian state media reported that two women and two children were killed and more than 60 other civilians injured in the attack.
The display comes amid strained relations between Washington and Tehran, with public billboards and art installations in the Iranian capital frequently used to convey political messages and criticise US and other Western policies.
Tehran has previously hosted displays targeting Trump. In February 2026, following the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli airstrike, an installation at Enghelab Square depicted Trump in a coffin, according to reports.
Anti-American rhetoric has also featured in public demonstrations and religious gatherings in Iran, with some hardline figures issuing threats against Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The latest installation turns the busy Tajrish Square intersection into a political statement against US actions, with motorists and pedestrians passing the display as traffic moves through the area.
