Government Chief Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor and two other medical experts have been ordered to appear in court on October 21, 2025, to testify in the ongoing inquest into the death of Jeff Mwathi, the nephew of popular Mugithi singer Samidoh.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi issued the summons after the three doctors failed to appear in court on Tuesday to present critical medical reports and provide their testimony.

Their evidence is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Jeff’s mysterious death in February 2023, which occurred at a house associated with DJ Fatxo.

The prosecution pushed for the summons, lamenting that the doctors’ absence had caused unnecessary delays.

Their nonappearance however forced the court to postpone the proceedings to October.

This adjournment came just a day after two crucial witnesses testified providing accounts of Jeff’s final hours.

Faith Ndunge, one of the three young women who were in Jeff’s company the night before his death, told the court on Monday, that Jeff exhibited distress and threatened to take his own life while they were at DJ Fatxo’s residence on the fateful night of February 22,2023.

In her evidence in chief, Ndunge recounted how Jeff allegedly held a knife and cried loudly, claiming he lacked a father figure.

“When we came out from the bedroom with another lady known as Faith Mutanu, we found Jeff crying loudly in the sitting room while holding a knife, and two other men who were DJ Fatxo’s cousin Chaka and his driver Kim were with him,” she testified.

“Too loud,” she added, when asked to describe how audible Jeff’s cries were.

“He was saying that he has no father figure and that he would want to kill himself.”

According to Ndunge, she had joined Jeff, DJ Fatxo, and her two friends Mutanu and Teresia for a night out.

Fatxo later offered to drop the ladies at Mutanu’s house, but instead diverted to his own apartment at the Redwood apartment in Roysambu, Nairobi.

“I asked him where he was taking us, and he said he was taking us to his house so that I would know where to deliver his orders,” she said.

Despite objections from Mutanu, who cited an early morning engagement, Fatxo insisted they all visit his apartment.

Upon arrival, he encouraged them to stay briefly and offered drinks. “We all said we’d take water, but Jeff said he would take gin alcohol ,” said Ndunge.

Later, the group was joined by two men, identified as DJ Fatxo’s cousin Chaka and his driver Kim.

After a brief musical session where Fatxo played the guitar and sang Kikuyu songs, the ladies retired to one of the bedrooms to sleep.

The court heard that DJ’s house was a two bedroom house. But they were later awoken by commotion from the sitting room.

“It was a very confusing scene that I was not expecting,” Ndunge said.

“I was in there, and the rest were trying to calm Jeff down. After that, he slept in the sitting room.”

She further testified that Jeff’s cries of attempting to kill himself were so loud they prompted a neighbor to knock and ask them to keep the noise down.

In the same court session, Felister Waithera Wairimu, a beautician and regular supplier of hair products to DJ Fatxo, testified about a late-night encounter with the DJ on the night Jeff died.

Waithera said DJ Fatxo had ordered two products from her, curling cream and foam cream worth Sh 3,500, ten days before the incident.

On February 21, 2023, at 10:48 pm, she texted him to collect and pay for them.

While he didn’t respond immediately, he called her around 4:00 am.

“He called me the first time; I did not pick up. He called again immediately, and I picked up, asking him why he was calling me at this time. I was surprised he was calling me at such an hour,” Waithera told the court.

DJ Fatxo explained he had been occupied but needed the products urgently.

Waithera said she informed him that the products were at her house. Within 10 minutes, Fatxo was at her apartment gate.

“He did not come out of the vehicle nor did we talk more. He was in a hurry,” she noted.

Although he did not pay on the spot, Fatxo later sent the money around 8:30 am, according to Waithera.

Under cross-examination by Lawyer Martina Swiga, representing Jeff’s family, Waithera said she asked Fatxo where he was coming from.

“He told me he was coming from a meeting at Safari Park,” she responded.

When Lawyer Dancun Okatch, representing DJ Fatxo, asked if she knew that DJ had earlier dropped off three women, Waithera said she was not aware and was not interested in who he had been with.

The inquest resumes on October 21, 2025.
