A Kenyan TikTok sensation popularly known as Professor Aduol has taken social media by storm with his uncanny impersonation of Dr Oburu Odinga, the ODM party leader and elder brother of former prime minister, the late Right Honourable Raila Odinga.

In a series of videos that have since gone viral, Aduol flawlessly mimics Oburu’s distinctive voice, dramatic gestures and signature political phrases, including emphatic shouts of “Baba Raila Odinga”.

The clips have amassed millions of views across various social media platforms.

The initial viral video, posted around mid-December 2025, shows Aduol recreating Oburu’s theatrical speaking style commonly seen during political rallies and media interviews. The performance quickly caught the attention of netizens, who flooded TikTok with praise for the comedian’s attention to detail.

Viewers particularly applauded Aduol’s mastery of Oburu’s shaky body movements, Luo-accented English and exaggerated emphasis on power dynamics within Kenyan politics.

@Captain commented, “I think Oburu is the one imitating this guy”, while @Fred asked, “How do you keep the whole speech in your mind?” Another user, @Mose Jaringa, wrote, “Pure talent. Good job”.

The viral content comes at a time when political banter and realignments are intensifying ahead of next year’s general election, with Oburu remaining active in ODM youth leadership discussions.

Aduol’s parody underscores Kenya’s long-standing tradition of political satire on social media, where influencers often humanise powerful figures through humour. By blending comedy with subtle political commentary, the TikTok creator appears to have struck a chord with audiences who are increasingly weary of overly serious political discourse.

Over the years, several prominent personalities and politicians have been subjects of light-hearted satire and parody, including the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the late President Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki, President William Samoei Ruto, media personality Jeff Koinange, and Rigathi Gachagua, among others.
