Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo has accused President William Ruto of launching new projects while leaving other developments from the previous administration incomplete.

Speaking on Spice FM on Friday, August 8, the United Democratic Alliance legislator said the president had failed to meet Party standards and should not have been the sole candidate for the top seat.

“You don’t start anything new before you finish the old, because the old belongs to the same people. William Ruto has started many new projects before completing old ones,” he stated.

He argued that if Ruto had been fully aware of ongoing projects during his tenure as deputy president, he should have carried them forward.

“If the president knew what was happening when he was deputy president, he would have carried along the idea either by toll or whatever design.”

His criticism contrasts with Ruto’s remarks earlier this week, portraying himself as more capable than his predecessors.

“I have combined all my predecessors. I have the courage of Jomo, I have the understanding of Moi, I have the education of Kibaki, and I have the plan we shared with Uhuru Kenyatta,” Ruto said.

Ngogoyo also accused the president of misusing public funds and stressed that government spending is not a personal favor to citizens.

“All trunk roads in the country have money for maintenance. If there’s a pothole, an emergency, it comes every year,” he said, referring to the already budgeted Sh600 million.

“And by the way, it is a certain percentage already determined by the Roads Act. So it is not any favor.”

He also faulted the government for securitizing the fuel levy to access money upfront without clearing pending bills owed to contractors, saying, “If you get this money upfront and say you want to do away with the pending bills, then do away with the pending bills. Let contractors work, and that is it.”
