City politician and businesswoman Millicent Omanga has offered the public a rare glimpse of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika’s growing twins, months after Kihika returned from the US.

In the images posted on her social media pages, Omanga was seen spending time with the toddlers alongside Governor Kihika and a circle of prominent female leaders, including Bahati MP Irene Njoki, Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami, and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

“More than a chama… we are family. Showing love to the kids today. Sisterhood it is!” she captioned the post, tagging the other leaders.

The twins, appearing cheerful and healthy, drew attention for their chubby cheeks, bobbed hair, and coordinated outfits.

They were dressed in matching white T-shirts and blue shorts, neatly aligning with the blue-and-white chic theme worn by the ladies.

The photos marked one of the few public appearances by Governor Kihika’s children, who have largely been kept out of the limelight since their birth.

Unsurprisingly, the images triggered swift reactions across social media, with users commenting both on the children’s growth and the political undertones of the gathering.

“The kids are growing super fast. Networks are things to be nurtured. Social capital is always important every day,” wrote one X user, cargheni.

Another added jokingly, “Hio chama tunaivunja 2027,” referencing the political influence often associated with such high-profile alliances.

Governor Kihika welcomed the twins in the United States last year, a decision that sparked debate due to her more than five-month absence from county duties.

Explaining her choice, she said it was to maintain privacy and avoid her ‘juniors’ seeing her nudity during delivery.

“Women, you know our job [of having babies]. Just because I am the governor, does it mean I can’t have babies? Also, all doctors and nurses are under me. Did you really want me to lie on a table with the same doctors helping me deliver?” she posed during Madaraka Day celebrations at Heroes Technical Vocational College in Bahati Sub-county.

She added, “Then, when we go for meetings, will the same doctors be looking at me in the same way?” prompting cheers from the crowd. Kihika also promised to build a maternity facility to enable more women to “enjoy services like the ones I did.”

Her remarks at the time drew criticism online, particularly over her reference to healthcare workers as subordinates.

Earlier, she had hosted a lavish party for friends and politicians upon returning from the US, an event that also sparked online discussion.
